Products and Technologies to Support Society

Toyo Denki is strongly committed to helping establish safe and secure social infrastructure and sustainable development through its products and systems that integrate environmental technologies and information technologies.

Our Strong Track Record

Shinkansen Technology

Technology to improve the energy efficiency of Shinkansen trains

Toyo Denki has been providing a variety of electrical equipment for the Tokaido Shinkansen since its launch in 1964, helping to support major advances in technology. For example, the N700 Series Shinkansen (pictured at left) consumes significantly less energy than the first Shinkansen train that rolled into service, consuming about 32% less energy. Toyo Denki’s traction motors and reduction gear units (or driving gear units) are helping to reduce energy consumption.

E³ Solution System

E3 Solution

Energy recycling solution for railways

The E³ Solution System is a railway energy storage system that combines Toyo Denki’s high performance DC/DC converter with high capacity lithium-ion batteries to store and supply regenerative energy. The system effectively compensates for voltage drops from contact lines and enables leveling of peak power demand.

Beijing Subway Mass Transit

北京地下鉄

Supplying electrical equipment for mass transit and helping to relieve traffic congestion

Toyo Denki supplies many types of electrical equipment for the Beijing Subway system. This equipment is used on Line 10, which provides access to sites for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, as well as Line 1 and the Batong Line. Toyo Denki technology is helping to relieve traffic congestion.

Towing Locomotives for Panama Canal

パナマ運河

Supporting safe, expeditious transit of vessels through the Panama Canal

When a vessel passes a lock in the Panama Canal, towing locomotives pull the vessel from both walls of the lock in order to prevent collisions with walls. Toyo Denki has been providing electrical equipment for the towing locomotives since 1964.

Energy-Efficient Rotary Press Equipment

新聞輪転機

Eco-drive (ED) motors with inverters deliver high precision and energy-efficient performance

Modern rotary presses use a completely shaftless design that relies on multiple motors for highly precise positioning control. These presses have largely replaced conventional designs that rely on mechanical shafts. Toyo Denki provides ED motors and intelligent inverters for many shaftless rotary presses used in Japan and abroad, delivering high precision and energy efficient performance as well as low noise.

Automotive Testing Equipment

自動車開発用試験機

Helping to accelerate automotive development and reduce CO2 emissions

Toyo Denki supplies automotive testing equipment for automakers to use in the development of new car designs and for quality assurance purposes. The testing equipment must satisfy diverse requirements for reliability, safety, low energy consumption, operability and low noise. By using Toyo Denki’s testing equipment, automakers are able to accelerate their automotive development and improve engine performance, which is in turn contributing to the reduction of CO2 emissions.

Renewable Biomass Energy

バイオマス発電

Reducing CO2 emissions and waste

There is renewed interest today in power generation that relies on renewable sources of energy as an alternative to fossil fuels, including biomass fuel made from biological resources. Toyo Denki supplies biomass power generating equipment that is fueled by processed sugarcane waste products from sugar manufacturing, which helps to reduce both CO2 emissions and waste.

Smart Card-Based Station Operating Equipment

ICカード対応Station Operating equipment

Facilitating transit access and reducing paper waste

Toyo Denki manufactures automatic fare adjustment and commuter ticket vending machines with smart card technology that are improving convenience for rail and bus users while facilitating transit access. Smart card technology contributes to reducing paper waste, which is why Toyo Denki is focusing its energies on developing station operating equipment that will spur the widespread adoption of smart card technology.
